Cal State volleyball team stays No. 8 in national poll

The Cal State San Bernardino volleyball team remained No. 8 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II national poll.

The Coyotes opened the 2014 season this past weekend, going 3-1 at the Hampton Inn Wildcat Invitational hosted by Central Washington University.

They defeated three West Region team with victories against Hawaii Pacific, Saint Martin’s and No. 9 Western Washington. The Coyotes lost 3-1 to host and this week’s No. 13 Central Washington.

The Coyotes are at Cal State East Bay (3-2) on Friday night and Cal State Monterey Bay (0-4) on Saturday.

Six West Region schools are in this week’s poll, led by No. 4 BYU-Hawaii, No. 8 Coyotes, No. 9 Western Washington, No. 13 Central Washington, No. 14 UC San Diego, and No. 22 Sonoma State.

The top five are unchanged from the preseason poll – Concordia-St. Paul, Tampa, Minnesota-Duluth, BYUH and Central Missouri.
