Cal Poly Pomona standouts sweep weekly honors

Armando Ochoa

Cal Poly Pomona swept weekly soccer honors as Armando Ochoa was named CCAA men’s player of the week while Alison Sauve was named best among the women for games Oct. 6-12.

Ochoa, a junior midfielder from Riverside, led the Broncos to a sweep of Cal State East Bay and Cal State Stanislaus. In Friday’s 3-1 victory over the Pioneers, Ochoa scored his first two goals of the season including the game winner off of a free kick in the 36th minute of play.

On Sunday Ochoa scored his third goal of the weekend in the Broncos’ 2-1 win against the Warriors.

Sauve, a senior midfielder, managed the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over nationally ranked Cal State Stanislaus.

The Broncos finished 2-0 on the weekend after also snagging a 3-0 win against Cal State East Bay on Friday.
