Mark Huizar of the nationally-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men’s cross country team has earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Runner of the Week honors for Oct. 20-26.

Huizar led the Broncos to a first-place finish Friday afternoon at the Titan Invitational in Fullerton. The sophomore from La Puente crossed the line at 24:44.0 to take second overall in the 8,000-meter race.

Huizar and teammate John Dominguez crossed the line just a split second apart, at 24:44.0 and 24:44.4. Huizar took second and Dominguez placed third as the Broncos put six runners within the top 15 finishers on Friday in Fullerton.

In the latest NCAA Division II national poll released last Wednesday, CPP was No. 22 spot. Friday’s meet in Fullerton represented the final regular season event for the Broncos, who will start their postseason on Saturday, Nov. 8 with the conference championships in San Bernardino.
