University of Redlands women prep for postseason

The University of Redlands women’s soccer team will head to Texas for NCAA Division III regional play.

The Bulldogs (11-6-3), who defeated Cal Lutheran in penalty kicks in the championship game of the SCIAC Tournament, will play at Trinity (Tex.) against No. 18 Hardin-Simmons University (Tex.) in the first round on Saturday.

The winner will advance to Sunday’s game against the winner of No. 3 Trinity-No. 20 University of Texas-Tyler.

The Bulldogs and the Cowgirls have faced off twice before, with the most recent contest taking place in 2010 when the Bulldogs advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.

This year’s NCAA appearance is Redlands’ sixth under Head Coach Suzette Soboti.

Hardin-Simmons took home its 12th-straight American Southwest Conference (ASC) title after defeating the Texas-Tyler 1-0. This is their 14th all-time appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
