Citrus QB Larry Cutbirth headed for Louisiana

Citrus College quarterback Larry Cutbirth has made a decision on a four-year school. The Etiwanda High School product is headed to Division 1-AA Southeastern Louisiana.

“The facilities there are amazing,” he said. “The coaching staff has a lot of energy and the whole community really welcomed me and rallies around their football team.”

Last season Cutbirth threw for 2,513 yards and 18 touchdowns with 13 interceptions in 10 games for the Owls. He was first in the National Division Central Conference in yards per game and second in touchdown passes.

He also had a stellar freshman season throwing for 2,459 yards and 27 touchdowns in 11 games.

He had a handful of Division I schools interested and had an offer from San Diego State but the timeline didn’t quite work out. The schools wanted him in January but he won’t be done at Citrus until next month.

The Lions are coming off a 9-4 season and back-to-back titles in the Southlands Conference.

Cutbirth is looking to get some playing time right away.
