Upland native Zach Robbins honored for academic achievements

Zach Robbins of Dixie State University has been named Pacific West Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s basketball.

The PacWest recognizes one student-athlete from each the conference’s 15 sponsored sports for their academic and athletic achievements during the past year.

The Upland High School graduate, who also won this award last year, closed out his stellar four-year career at Dixie earning 2015 Honorable Mention Division II All-America honors, in addition to first team All-PacWest, Daktronics All-West Region and NABC All-West Region accolades.

He averaged 16.2 points and 7.9 rebounds during his senior season and finished as the program’s Division II-era career leader in points (1,470), rebounds (932) and blocks (198). He is also the career record holder in made field goals (581) and free throws (302).

In the classroom Robbins carries a 3.81 grade point average and is completing work on his four-year degree in communication this summer.
