Pomona-Pitzer’s Alyssa Woodward named best in nation

 

Senior Alyssa Woodward of Pomona-Pitzer has been named the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Division III Women’s Water Polo Player of the Year.

Fellow senior Sarah Westcott joined her in earning first-team All-America honors. A total of five Sagehens were honored in all, as sophomore goalie Ahsha Earwood was named to the second team, while freshman Morgan McCracken and senior Mahalia Prater-Fahey earned honorable mention.

Woodward, a graduate of Arlington High School in Riverside, earned All-America honors for the third year, finishing with 318 goals.

Woodward was also named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year after leading the Sagehens in scoring for the fourth year in a row (65 goals) and helping the team to an undefeated regular season (8-0) in conference play. She was an ACWPC first-team All-America selection for the fourth straight season.
