Local standout Khallifah Rosser honored for effort

Khallifah Rosser of Cal State Los Angeles has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Rosser, a graduate of Summit High School and Chaffey College, picked up the honor for the second time this season after an impressive showing on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Competing in the elite men’s 400 hurdles, Rosser won the race with a time of 49.27. That time is currently No. 1 in the NCAA Division II and tied for No. 5 in the world with Japan’s Keisuke Nozawa. He won a close battle on Saturday with Jeshua Anderson, who has the No. 2 time in the world so far this year.

Rosser’s time is also No. 2 all-time at Cal State LA. The school record is 49.04 and was set by Sam Turner in 1978.

Rosser’s time is also No. 7 all-time in NCAA Division II.
