Sophomore guard Trevor Baker of the University of Redlands has been named Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for Jan. 24-28.
Baker went off for 76 points in three games for 25.3 points per game, as the Bulldogs defeated Occidental (77-74) and Caltech (89-64) while narrowly losing to Cal Lutheran (82-85).
Against the Kingsmen, Baker singlehandedly put Redlands back in the game after it faced a 25-point deficit. He scored 31 of his game-high 33 points in the second half.
Against Occidental, the Bulldogs trailed by 10 with seven minutes to go, before Baker scored six critical, late-game points. Finally, Baker added a 31-point performance, including six threes, in the team’s solid win over Caltech to close out an incredible week.
Overall, he shot 60 percent, highlighted by a 61.9 percent from long range. He was also 15-for-17 from the free-throw line.
Baker also added 19 rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
