Redlands duo chosen for All-Star team to compete internationally

Guard Colleen Goeser and forward Brittany Oster, formerly of the University of Redlands basketball team have been chosen for the 2014 USA Division III Women’s Basketball Team. It is made up of NCAA Division III basketball players who have been recognized as All-America, All-Region, and/or All-Conference honorees.

The squad begins its tour on July 21 in Orlando, Fla., for orientation and practices before heading to Sao Paulo, Brazil, on the 22nd. The USA Division III Women’s Basketball Team travels with the men’s equivalent to play doubleheaders on July 23, 24, and 25 against selected teams from the region. The tour wraps up on July 26, when the teams travel to Rio de Janeiro for their final game on the 28th.

Goeser ranked second among the Bulldogs in scoring with 13.2 points per game and averaged 4.5 assists.

Oster provides an impressive overall resume as well, having competed as a forward for Redlands throughout her four-year career. As a Bulldog, she accumulated enough points to rank fifth on the all-time list while becoming the eighth member of the 1000-point club at Redlands.

As a senior, Oster averaged a double-double, scoring 18.1 points and pulling in 10.7 rebounds per game, which ultimately landed her on the All-SCIAC First Team. She also received D3hoops.com Third-Team All-West Region honors and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III All-America Honorable Mention to conclude her career.
