Cal State San Bernardino has named Steve Ralos as its new men’s soccer coach. He spent the last season as an assistant coach at San Jose State and replaces Lance Thompson who resigned a month before the team’s first game last fall.

At San Jose State Ralos served as assistant men’s coach and recruiting coordinator. He spent 11 seasons coaching in Kansas, where he guided Cloud Community College to a national junior college title in 2011.

He began his career at Bethel College in Newton, Kans. He led both the men’s and women’s programs during his one season (2007) in which his men’s tea was 15-4-1.

He left to become an assistant at Kansas Wesleyan (2008-09) and then moved on as head men’s and women’s coach at  Cloud Community where he was 53-9-4 in three seasons with the men (2010-12).

Ralos becomes the eighth head coach in the last 20 seasons at CSUSB, where the Coyotes have had just three winning seasons. The Coyotes last went to the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

The Coyotes went 5-12-3 overall and 3-12-1 in CCAA play, finishing last in the South Division. But the team was competitive. It had 10 losses by one goal, and six were by 1-0 scores.
