Cal Poly Pomona’s Daniel Garcia named All-American

Daniel Garcia Jr.

Daniel Garcia Jr. earned NSCAA third team All-American honors, becoming the third athlete in school history to be son honored.

He helped the Broncos to a 17-1-2 overall record. Individually he matched the program’s single-season record for assists with 13 while ranking at No. 2 nationally in that individual statistic as well.

His impressive senior season pushed his career assist total to 15, which ranks fourth in school history.

Prior to Garcia receiving the 2014 All-American accolade, the only other two Broncos to earn the honor were Trevor Persson (2000) and Luis Gonzalez (2010, 2011).

Garcia transferred to CPP after two years at Cerritos College. He’s excelled in the classroom as well, earning California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic honors before being named an NCAA D-II Academic All-American this November.
