Junior outfielder David Armendariz of Cal Poly Pomona has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Feb. 3-9.

Armendariz played a key role in the Broncos’ 4-0 record last week as CPP completed a sweep of Point Loma Nazarene on Monday before taking a three-game set from Dixie State.

Armendariz, a transfer from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, went 7-for-17 with five runs and six runs batted in.

On Monday in the 7-6 walk-off win over PLNU, Armendariz singled in the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning and he finished that game with three RBI. Then on Friday in the series opener against Dixie State, he scored the go-ahead run in a 3-1 win.

Armendariz collected a season-high three hits on Saturday as the Broncos cruised to a 12-0 win over DSC.

And on Sunday, he posted a 2-for-4 effort offensively and launched a two-run homer that gave CPP a 5-3 lead early in the game. Although the Red Storm ended up tying the game at 5-5 in the ninth, the Broncos bounced back for another walk-off win in the 10th inning.
