Cal Poly Pomona’s J.J. Franklin honored by CCAA

Cal Poly Pomona’s J.J. Franklin has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 2-8.

Senior closer Franklin set a CPP school record this past weekend in Utah, earning his 10th and 11th-career saves to match and break the previous program record set in 1966.

A 6-foot-5 right-hander from Chino helped the Broncos in securing a four-game sweep over Dixie State after offering just one walk and striking out two hitters in two appearances.

On the weekend, he allowed just one baserunner over 2.2 innings of relief.
