Cal Poly Pomona’s Jose Ortega named All-American

Jose Ortega

After a tremendous season, full of broken records and program firsts,Jose Ortega adds his name to the ever-growing list of All-Americans from Cal Poly Pomona. His second team selection makes him just the fourth men’s soccer player to earn All-American honors.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the teams on Friday.

Leading the defense to a 17-1-2 record on the season, Ortega provided the Broncos with the stopping power they needed to earn a program best 11 shutouts, while allowing only 10 goals against, another program record.

Ortega showed how dependable he was as he was the only Bronco to start all 20 games, and led CPP with 1851 minutes played.
