Bonita grad Justin Garza makes USA Baseball Collegiate Team

Bonita High School product Justin Garza and Cal State Fullerton teammate Thomas Eshelman have been named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team final 24-man roster.

Eshelman and Garza become the 22nd and 23rd Titans to represent Cal State Fullerton on the Collegiate National Team dating back to 1987. The sophomore right-handers are amongst 19 players representing USA Baseball for the first time in their amateur careers.

Garza was 5-4 with a 3.22 ERA in 73 innings for the Titans the past season.

On June 21, Eshelman and Garza combined to pitch six perfect innings, three apiece, and struck out 11 of the 18 outs they recorded in Team USA’s first game of training camp. Team USA went 6-1 during the seven-game training camp and Garza would tie for the team lead with eight strikeouts in two appearances while Eshelman was 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA and seven strikeouts.
