Former Cal State San Bernardino baseball standout Kerry Kelley has gotten off to a good start in his professional debut with the Gateway Grizzlies of the independent Frontier League.
The left-handed pitcher earned Pitcher of the Week honors after a stellar showing in his second and third professional starts. Kelley threw 15 innings, allowing just 1one earned run, one walk and seven hits.
He is now 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA and a 0.650 WHIP in his young professional career. He went 7 innings on Tuesday to beat the defending Frontier League champion Schaumburg Boomers, then went 8 to beat Joliet on Sunday.
