Local Missy Taukeiaho signs with professional softball team

Former Cal State Fullerton softball standout Missy Taukeiaho (Etiwanda High School) has signed a contract to play for the USSSA Florida Pride of National Professional Fastpitch (NPF).

The two-time All-American signed as an undrafted free agent after completing a stellar senior season in which she helped lead the Titans to their first NCAA Regional appearance since 2009.

She was named Big West Player of the Year for the second time in her career.

Additionally, she was named to the All-West Region Third Team after finishing her senior year with a .360 batting average with a .674 slugging percentage and a .498 on-base percentage.

She registered 52 runs, 41 RBIs, 22 doubles, 10 home runs and 43 walks on the year. She led the team in runs, doubles, home runs, walks and slugging percentage.

Taukeiaho played three years with Cal State Fullerton after transferring from Washington. During her time as a Titan, she etched her name into the career record book in almost every offensive category as she ranks second all-time in on-base percentage(.512), slugging percentage (.752), home runs (41) and walks (110).

Taukeiaho is the 16th former Titan to sign a professional contract to play softball.

Etiwanda grad Missy Taukeiaho named Big West Player of Year

Senior Missy Taukeiaho (Etiwanda HS) and Desiree Ybarra (Riverside Poly), both of Cal State Fullerton, have been named Big West Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.

Taukeiaho was named Big West Conference Player of the Year for the second time in her career, previously earning the honor in 2014. She has managed 12 multi-hit and multi-RBI games this season.

 

The senior third baseman ranks seventh in batting average (.358), second in on-base percentage (.488), second in slugging percentage (.673), third in homers (9) and fourth in RBIs (37). Taukeiaho leads the league in runs scored (49), doubles (22), walks (38) and is second in total bases with 109.

In Big West Conference action, she hit .333 with five home runs, 20 RBIs, 22 runs scored, 16 walks and slugged an impressive .719.

While Taukeiaho has been an offensive threat this season, she has also been exceptional defensively with only three errors in 64 chances.

Etiwanda grad Missy Taukeiaho honored for play at CS Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton senior third baseman Missy Taukeiaho collected her first Big West Conference Player of the Week honor this season – the fourth of her career – to open up league action.

Taukeiaho, a graduate of Etiwanda High School, hit .625 with two home runs and seven RBIs in a series sweep of UC Riverside. She finished the week with a .571 on-base percentage and a 1.182 slugging percentage.

Taukeiaho accounted for 13 of Cal State Fullerton’s 23 runs in three wins over UCR. In addition to driving in seven runs, she scored six times in the series to help the Titans outscore the Highlanders 23-4.

Taukeiaho was named Big West Player of the Week, while Long Beach State’s Christina Clermont was named pitcher of the week.
