Memorial game to benefit two local college baseball programs

The second annual Jake Pilkerton Memorial Baseball Game is slated for 1 p.m. Nov. 8 at Fiscalini Field.

Pilkerton was a baseball standout at Rim of the World High School, then went on to play two years at San Bernardino Valley College and two at Cal State San Bernardino.

Pilkerton, who played second base and earned multiple honors in his prep and collegiate career, was killed in an automobile accident on Aug. 3, 2013.

There will be a raffle, memorabilia and food and beverages available with the proceeds going toward a trust fund that will be distributed to help the baseball programs at all three schools for which Pilkerton played.

Athletes who played with him at one of the three schools are invited to play in the nine-inning contest.

Donation items are still needed, as are players or volunteers to help run the event.
