Former Cal Poly Pomona outfielder Travis Taijeron has been named Player of the Week in the Double-A Eastern League.
Taijeron, 25, plays for the New York Mets affiliate in Binghamton, N.Y. On the week he went 8 for 20 (.400) with a double, three home runs, five runs scored and 10 RBI.
The former CCAA Player of the Year has struggled a bit this season, his third at the Double-A level. On the season he is hitting .248 with 24 doubles, 11 home runs and 45 RBI in 68 games.
Taijeron was drafted out of Cal Poly Pomona in 2011.
