San Bernardino Valley College right-handed pitcher Tyler Rich has signed with NCAA Division II Colorado State-Pueblo.

Rich, a Colton High graduate, has been the anchor of the Wolverines pitching staff the past two seasons. He earned first-team All-Foothill Conference honors last year, going 7-3 with a conference-best 2.09 ERA in 65 innings.

Rich, who plans to major in kinesiology, has not visited the school yet but plans to do so later this spring.

The school is part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and has qualified for regional play eight of the last 19 seasons.

The team is coached by Stan Sanchez, who coached at San Bernardino Valley from 1984 to 1990. Current coach Bill Mierzwik was an assistant under Sanchez and got the head job when Sanchez left to take an assistant job at Cal State Northridge.

He moved on to Pueblo when the program was re-instated in 1993.
