University of Redlands football assistant takes high school job

University of Redlands Special Teams Coordinator Aaron De La Rosa has accepted a position as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Reedley High School in Northern California.

De La Rosa began his three-year tenure at Redlands as a graduate assistant coach, working with the linebackers while attending the School of Business.  After completing his Master of Arts in management, he took on the responsibilities of special teams coordinator and also coached the corners.

During his tenure the Bulldogs put together a solid 17-11 record that included the 2013 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship.

In 2014 and 2015, the Bulldogs led the conference in defensive turnovers, forcing their foes to 29 and 22 turnovers, respectively.

The Bulldogs ranked first in the conference in kick-off returns, punting, and punt returns during De La Rosa’s final season.

David Lord returns to Redlands coaching staff

David Lord has returned to the University of Redlands football coaching staff and will direct the defensive line. He previously coached with the Bulldogs from 2009 to 2011, working with the offensive line and serving as recruiting coordinator.

Lord most recently served as offensive line coach at Millsaps College, an NCAA Division III school in Jackson, Mississippi. During the 2013 season, the Millsaps offensive line allowed only seven sacks to rank 14th in the nation and help the offense to surpass 2,000 rushing yards. In the previous season, the Millsaps offensive line allowed only six sacks to sit seventh in the nation and enable the offense to run for more than 1,400 yards.

From 2005 to 2007, Lord was an assistant football coach at Jurupa Valley High School. There he was part of a rushing attack that was ranked top-50 in the nation and a top five in California.

Lord, a graduate of Eisenhower, started out his collegiate football career as a redshirt freshman at San Jose State in 2004 and then transferred to play for Coach Bill Brown at Riverside Community College in 2005. He then transferred back into NCAA Division I in 2007, completing his Bachelor of Science in sociology at Northern Arizona.

Lord replaces Juan Navarro, who recently accepted the opportunity to become the defensive line assistant coach at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.
