Redlands pitcher honored for no-hitter

Junior Josh Makler of the University of Redlands baseball team has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for throwing a no-hitter against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown on Saturday.

In his 11th start of the season, the Portland, Ore. native threw a complete-game, no-hitter to become the first individual in at least 15 years of Bulldog baseball history to accomplish this feat.

He joins the trio of Kyle Hart, Casey Miller, and Brock Jacobo that went seven innings while not allowing a hit or walk in 2011 en route to a 12-0 win over Caltech.

Against the Stags, Makler registered a career-high 11 strikeouts and faced 34 batters in his SCIAC-leading seventh win of the season.
