The strength of this year’s CCAA champion Cal State San Bernardino is the one-two middle blocker punch of sophomore Brenna McIntosh and junior Tori May and both were recognized as Daktronics All-West Region selections.

McIntosh was named to the first team and May to the second team.

McIntosh, who last season was a second-team honoree, proved there would be no such thing as a sophomore jinx as she set two match records this season on consecutive matches – attack percentage (.933 14 kills, no errors, 15 attacks) and block assists (15) on the weekend of Nov. 1-2. The first-team All-CCAA selection ranks first in solo blocks (43), first in total blocks (149), first in blocks/set (1.30), second in block assists (106) and third in hitting percentage (.351) in the CCAA.

May, a graduate of Redlands East Valley, transferred from Division I Colorado State. She also was a first-team All-CCAA choice and ranks second in hitting percentage at .365, 11th in both block assists (75) and total blocks (90) in the CCAA. She also was a two-time CCAA Player of the Week honoree.

The No. 14 Coyotes (25-5 overall) play host to this week’s NCAA West Regional tournament. They take on Central Washington at 7:30 p.m. in Thursday’s opening round.
