Sig Alert, I-215, Grand Terrace 5:08 a.m.

|

The California Highway Patrol shut down part of the 215 Freeway this morning after a driver overturned a vehicle and became pinned under the steering wheel. A Sig Alert was issued at 5:08 a.m. and officers closed two lanes of the southbound 215 at the Newport Avenue overcrossing, said CHP Officer Albert Graciano. It was unknown how long the closure would last. The driver's Chevy flipped onto its roof at 4:34 a.m., trapping the driver in the vehicle, Graciano said. The CHP received reports that one of the driver's hands was severed in the crash. The Sig Alert was canceled at 6:33 a.m.
