Gusty winds are expected over much of the Inland Empire and mountain areas this morning, according to a wind advisory issued at 4:57 a.m. by the National Weather Service.
North to northeast winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour at times through and below canyons and passes. Winds will diminish later in the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 51 degrees today, dropping down to a low of 35 degree tonight.
Surface high pressure is building over Nevada this morning is bringing the locally gusty winds.
Winds this strong will make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, according to the weather service. Motorists are advised to use caution.

All vehicles, except those with 4-wheel-drive must be equipped with chains, but 4-wheel-drive vehicles must have chains inside the vehicle, according to the CHP.
A northbound big rig crash is causing traffic on the I-605 at San Gabriel River. The rig had gone over the center divider into southbound lanes and CHP estimated that 200 gallons of fuel had spilled on the roadway. A sig alert had been issued at 5:57 p.m.

A Toyota Camry and a sedan collided on the eastbound 10 Freeway west of Tippecanoe Avenue. The sedan stopped facing the wrong direction in a lane. At 1:19 p.m., three lanes were blocked, but all vehicles were moved to the center divider by 1:24 p.m, the CHP said.
Traffic on the northbound 15 Freeway at 6th Street is moving slowly, according to Caltrans. The eastbound Highway 60 at Market Street and the eastbound Highway 91 at Arlington are also congested. All other area highways are flowing smoothly.
