|

A truck driver hauling used batteries careened off the 10 Freeway this morning through a fence, splitting his 53-foot trailer in half and spilling battery acid on the ground.
Hazardous materials crews came to the scene at Live Oak Canyon Road and Calimesa Boulevard following the 5:52 a.m. crash to clean up the spill. The intersection remained closed at 7:30 a.m. and there was no estimated time when it would reopen. The driver was traveling west on the 10 Freeway at Wildwood Canyon Road when he veered off the freeway and the semi plunged over the side. The truck crashed through a perimeter fence and stopped on Calimesa Boulevard. The driver received minor injuries.
