A driver who swerved to avoid a wood pallet on the 215 Freeway caused a motorcyclist to crash, causing traffic to back up more than a mile, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP received a report of a pallet in the slow lane at 6:58 a.m. Before Freeway Service Patrol personnel could remove it, a driver swerved into another lane to avoid it.
A motorcyclist who was in that lane was forced into the center divider, according to witnesses, said CHP Officer Jaci Parent. The rider was injured.
The crash blocked two lanes, backing up traffic to the 10 Freeway and 215 Freeway interchange, Parent said.
