Sig Alert, 60 Freeway, Ontario 2:49 a.m.

|

An Ontario police officer was struck by a car on the 60 Freeway while helping drivers involved in an earlier crash.
The incident led to the full closure of eastbound lanes and traffic had already backed up to Montclair hours later, the California Highway Patrol said.
The unidentified officer stopped to help people involved in the crash on the eastbound 60 at Grove Avenue at 2:14 a.m. At 2:49 a.m., a passing motorist struck the officer. He received minor to moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Parent said. The CHP shut down the 60 Freeway following the crash. All lanes remained closed until 4:26 a.m. when the carpool lane was reopened. Parent said traffic had backed up to at least Central Avenue around 6 a.m.
UPDATE: Lanes were cleared at 8:42 a.m.
