Three small brush fires prompted the closure of Pyrite Street off-ramp from the westbound 60 Freeway. The fires were reported at 11:25 a.m. and traffic was stopped on the westbound side due to smoke blowing across the freeway. A deer was struck on the southbound 15 Freeway near Highway 138, blocking one lane. Caltrans and the Department of Fish and Game came to the scene to remove the deer, who survived the collision. Lanes were cleared at 6:44 a.m.

The CHP said the driver may have had a license plate number containing "4NLV". The motorist drove away in the carpool lane. Los Angeles County firefighters came to the scene to help the rider, who suffered injuries.
