Caltrans officials expect to have one lane on Highway 38 reopened by about 3 p.m. so workers can flag motorists through the area where a brush fire burned three acres. The fire was reported at 11:15 a.m. off Highway 38 in Mountain Home Village west of Forest Falls. Fire dispatchers said the blaze started in some trees and spread to brush, heading uphill toward a ridge. The highway was closed between Bryant Avenue and Sugar Pine Circle. Firefighters have stopped the spread of the blaze, but are dousing hot spots. The highway is expected to be completely reopened by about 5 or 6 p.m.
A turquoise Mitsubishi Gallant broke down in the slow lane on the northbound 215 Freeway south of Second Street.
The California Highway Patrol received a report of a big rig striking three overcrossings on the southbound 215 Freeway at Mount Vernon Avenue, sending chunks of concrete onto the road. The debris has been cleared from lanes.
The Halloran Springs Road off-ramp from the northbound 15 remained closed due to a semi truck that caught on fire at 10:19 p.m. Tuesday.
The CHP issued a traffic advisory due to congestion on the eastbound 60 Freeway west of the 10 Freeway from construction work and holiday traffic. Traffic was backed up about a half mile.
A fuel tank on a tractor trailer ruptured, spilling 60 to 70 gallons of fuel on the Glen Helen Road off-ramp off the southbound 15 Freeway at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday. One lane was expected to remain closed until about 8:30 a.m. this morning.
The CHP received reports of a brush fire burning on the side of the eastbound 60 Freeway east of Ramoona Avenue. The slow lane and Ramona off-ramp were closed. The off-ramp remained closed until about 1:30 p.m.
