This just in from the city:

If you are a Veteran, you will want to attend a free Veterans' Resource Fair on Thursday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Park, 101 E. 28th St., Long Beach.

The fair, hosted by the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network, Employment Development Department, and US Vets will provide a great opportunity for military veterans and their families to obtain information about local community resources.

"We hope that all Veterans, including those recently separated, will attend this Thursday to receive valuable information on resources and job opportunities," said Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster.  "This is our opportunity to say thank you to all those who have served this great country."

Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster; Vice Mayor Val Lerch; Long Beach City Councilmembers Gerrie Schipske, Dee Andrews and Tonia Reyes Uranga; Veterans Blas Villalobos and Danielle Fulcher; and Phil Lawrence, Veteran and CEO of Superior Grocers, will honor Veterans at a Special Ceremony beginning at 10 a.m.  Several non-profit organizations and community service providers will offer veterans valuable information, resources and job opportunities.
