It seems like a contradiction of sorts: an eco-friendly take on a vehicle that doesn't exactly sip on gas.
But Raser Technologies of Provo, Utah, wants to change some minds with its "100-MPG Green Hummer SUV," which will be displayed at the Plug-In 2009 Convention in Long Beach Aug. 10-12.
From the release:
Raser's Electric Hummer is an extended range electric vehicle or EREV-powered by a 40-mile lithium ion battery pack, and recharged by plugging in or by a small onboard gas powered electric generator also called a "range extender." The near zero emissions electric vehicle is designed to average over 100 mpg in typical daily driving of about 60 miles or less, with a total range of 400 miles. EREV type plug-in vehicles have the lowest emissions of all hybrid vehicles, without the range limitations of pure electric vehicles.
They'll be at Booth 401, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
