City and business leaders need volunteers to help them plant more than 100 trees downtown on Nov. 21.

Join the Downtown Long Beach Associates, City Council members Suja Lowenthal and Robert Garcia, the city and Redevelopment Agency as they help plant 104 trees in existing tree wells between Ocean Boulevard and 10th Street and between the 710 Freeway and Alamitos.

"This is an opportunity for the community to come together and play a role in the beautification of our Downtown," said DLBA President and Chief Executive Officer Kraig Kojian. "These trees will greatly improve the aesthetics of many of our streets and walkways and will enhance the pedestrian experience."

The tree planting will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Check-in at Broadway and The Promenade, adjacent to The Cellar at 201 E. Broadway beginning at 9 a.m. All who participate will start their day with complimentary coffee, juice and pastries. Drinking water, shovels, brooms and gloves will be provided.
