Bike your way to savings at Long Beach restaurants

Forgo the four-wheelers and get a break for lunch.

More than 20 Long Beach restaurants on Friday, Dec. 4, are participating in Car Free Fridays and Lunch Breaks for Cyclists.

The offer is part of an ongoing campaign launched in the summer to encourage the community "to ride a bicycle or use another form of alternative transportation the first Friday of every month to promote a more active, green Long Beach," according to a city release.

Several eateries are offering up to 20 percent off lunch for cyclists from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To get the discount, cyclists need to mention the promotion and show proof of ridership such as a helmet or bicycle lock key.
