Long Beach Redevelopment Agency board members today voted to provide up to $100,000 for public safety, traffic management, street sweeping and other costs associated with the Red Bull New Year No Limits television show broadcasting live from downtown Long Beach.

On Dec. 31, stunt driver Travis Pastrana will try to break a world record by jumping his rally car off the Pine Avenue Pier onto a floating barge anchored in the Rainbow Harbor.

An estimated 25,000 to 50,000 people on Dec. 31 are expected to watch the spectacle and attend other events along the waterfront, at Pine and Broadway and First Street and Elm Avenue in the East Village.
