Russ Warner election party in Monrovia
Warner is again facing La Verne resident Cynthia Rodriguez Matthews in the Democratic primary for the 26th Congressional District. Warner ran in 2006 but lost in the primary to Matthews.
He has been campaigning almost continuously since that primary loss, even retaining several campaign staff members.
The district -- which hugs the foothills from La Canada Flintridge to Rancho Cucamonga -- has been represented by Rep. David Dreier, R-San Dimas, since 1980.
Warner's election night party will be held at the Peach Cafe at 141 E. Colorado Blvd. in Monrovia. Map

MONROVIA
-- Russ Warner, Democratic candidate for California¹s
26th congressional seat, voted with his family at his Rancho
Cucamonga polling location this morning and planned to join
supporters in Monrovia Tuesday night for an election night victory
party.
Scores of volunteers fanned out across the expansive
congressional district which spans more than 52-miles from Rancho
Cucamonga to La Crescenta. They were out in force reminding voters
to go to the polls, which are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
today.
"I put all my energy into this race because
America needs new leadership with fewer career politicians like
David Dreier," Warner says. "I am taking on this fight
against David Dreier because the war in Iraq must be stopped. My
son Greg served 17 months in Iraq with the U.S. Army and upon his
return encouraged me to make a difference in our community by
running for Congress."
Warner has been working
diligently for the past year to raise the money needed to defeat
Dreier. His campaign raised more than $500,000 in contributions,
which is by far the most money raised by any Democratic challenger
who has faced Dreier since he was first elected to Congress in 1980.
In addition, he has earned the support of numerous community
and
political leaders, including Congresswoman Hilda Solis and
Congressman Adam Schiff. Warner also received the endorsement of
the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, which
represents more than 845,000 workers in Los Angeles County.
A
successful small businessman, Warner has lived in the district for
nearly 27 years with his wife, Kris, and their three sons. Greg,
their eldest, is in the U.S. Army and served in Iraq for seventeen
months. Upon his return home from the war, Greg challenged his
father to make a difference by running for Congress. Warner
believes we need new leadership with new priorities to represent
the values of the 26th District.
