Wendy Maier, 61st Assembly District candidate
Isn't it time to stop putting the experienced politician back in office?? It seems even with the experience, they don't fulfill their promises or obligations to the citizens of their districts.
My name is Wendy Maier. I own and operate a successful deli in downtown Pomona and I reside in Ontario. I am interested in making changes in order for our government to be more responsive to our communities needs.
My main goals are finding real solutions to issues that concern all the people in the state of California, especially those in the 61st Assembly district, which covers the cities of Chino, Montclair, Pomona, and Ontario.
We must control our spending. Sacramento has a huge spending problem. We have to balance a sensible budget without raising taxes.
As a small business owner, I see why many of us find it hard to stay in business. We are taxed to the extreme. We need to become business friendly and entice businesses back into California instead of driving them out to other states.
The education of our children is very important to me. As a former educator, my eyes were opened to the challenges our young people face due to our failing education system. Our youth are the most important asset we have in the country. They are our future.
The safety of the people in our cities is imperative. We must always maintain a zero tolerance for gangs and violence. My Dad is a retired police officer, and my brother is in law enforcement. I was a volunteer firefighter in New York for several years.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. I taught 2nd and 6th graders. For 6 years, I taught incarcerated youths. I was a youth counselor on a cruise ship for 7 years. I coached Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball for several years. I was on the board of the Ontario Fast Pitch. I am a member of the Pomona Chamber of Commerce, and I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Pomona Boys and Girls club.
Every Friday, during the hours of 6pm to 8pm, I will be at New York Delight, 310 So. Thomas Street, Pomona, Ca 91766. Please feel free to stop by. I can be reached at (909) 643-6428 or wendymaier@yahoo.com.
