With 1 of 7 precincts reporting, Soto has 47 percent of the vote. Her closest competitor, Fred Van Allen, has 31 percent of the vote. Complete Results

From a candidate profile by Bulletin reporter Monica Rodriguez:

Danielle Soto, 22, said to address crime issues she would seek resident involvement in her district.

"I would get my district more involved by helping facilitate and organizing more Neighborhood Watch groups," she said.

Her next step would involve seeking to increase street lighting to deter criminals from carrying out misdeeds and pursuing state and federal grant dollars to pay for such improvements, Soto said.

Something else she would pursue is greater collaboration between residents and police officers, and have the department possibly have one or two officers who patrol a certain area closely and build relationships with residents so the latter know who to approach with a concern, she said.
