photo-home.jpgClaremont City Council candidate Bridget Healy reacted to the result of today's election in a brief interview at about 10:45 p.m. at her campaign party at a home on Danbury Road in Claremont.

Healy, Claremont's former assistant city manager, was defeated at the polls by incumbent Councilman Corey Calaycay and Larry Schroeder, a member of the city's Community Services Commission.

"Of course I'm disappointed, but I said all along there were three solid candidates in this race," Healy said. "I congratulate Corey and Larry."

Asked if she had any thoughts on the reasons for the election result, Healy said, "Claremonters have always been independent in their thought process. They voted, and Corey and Larry were successful."

When asked about her future plans, Healy said she will "re-engage" with her volunteer work. She said she will soon be traveling to New York City, a trip she received as a retirement gift from the city of Indio, where she also worked as an assistant city manager.

Asked if she will consider running for City Council in the future, Healy said, "I can't even think about that tonight."

She said some of her supporters had been encouraging her since the results came in to run in a future council race.

I am sure the staff of the city is relieved that Bridget Healy did not get elected to the City Council. Her reign as assistant city manager caused low moral amongst the staff. Healy's aspiration to be on the city council was sure to cause low moral amongst the citizens of Claremont. For many years, she rode the coattails of Southard. She was not capable of being in the forefront as a leader. The citizens saw that. Enjoy your retirement. Perhaps you should stay in NY your personality suits the East Cost.
