Diego Saraiva vs. Jorge Gurgel
Saraiva (9-4-1) takes on Gurgel (13-2) in the lightweight division.
About 45 secods into the fight, both fighters lock up and swing wildly at each other but neither fighters can gain an advantage. the fight progresses the same way over the next two minutes before Gurgel gains a takedown. Gurgel is trying to find and opening but Saraiva is able to defend from his back. Gurgel then tries to hover over and rain punches, but again is blocked. With 10 seconds remaining in the round, Gurgel allows Saraiva up and both fighters swing away until the horn sounds.
The second round begins the same way the first round did, with both fighters moving throwing a strike, then backing off. Gurgel appears to be in contol of the match by getting in and landing blows more. But as soon as it appears that way, Saraiva and Gurgel exchange blows for more than 10 seconds with Sariava looking to get the better of the exchange and forcing Gurgel to lock up. Saraiva then leaps onto Gurgel who drops him on his back.
Both fights get back to neutral as the round ends.
No surprise that the third round begins like the last two, with each fighter looking for their spot. Saraiva shoots in but is blocked by Gurgel and is again forced to defend himself on his back. Not much happens after that. Gurgel allows Saraiva up with 20 seconds left in the fight. Both fighters are tired as the match ends as there is no flurry at the end.
Gurgel gets the unanimous decision, 30-27 on all three cards, and improves to 14-2. Saraiva falls to 9-5-1.
