Fridays Celebrity Pro-Am competition for the 25th anniversary LG SKINS GAME is filled with popular celebrities and a limited amount of tickets remain for the event. The annual, $1 million golf spectacle will be hosted on the brand new Celebrity Course for the first time at the Indian Wells Golf Resort this Thanksgiving weekend.
LG SKINS GAME defending champion Stephen Ames, Mr. Skins Fred Couples, Masters champion Zach Johnson and long-hitting Brett Wetterich will form the field for the Silver Anniversary LG SKINS GAME.
The LG SKINS GAME Celebrity Pro-Am is a fun outlet that enables the community to mingle with celebrities while enjoying the Celebrity Course in tournament condition before the fabulous foursome of Ames, Couples, Johnson and Wetterich take to it over the weekend.
The Pro-Am is a five-person shamble beginning at 10 a.m. (shotgun start). Celebrity participants include crooner Pat Boone, actors Joe Mantegna, Haley Joel Osment, Cheech Marin, Judd Hirsch, Michael Weatherly, Richard Roundtree, John Callahan, 1976 Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner, Super Dave Osborne, former NFL player Fred Hammer Williamson, film producer and former United Artists Chairman and CEO Jerry Weintraub, television director Dennis Smith, famed sports producer Don Ohlmeyer and Celebrity Course designer Clive Clark, among others. LG SKINS GAME weekend including the star-studded Celebrity Pro-Am is fun for the whole family.
During LG SKINS GAME weekend at the Celebrity Courses fans village, fans can participate in the Beat the Pro putting contest and earn a chance to win daily prizes by beating Stephen Ames score on the villages 9-hole putting course. Fans charitable donation towards the contest are evenly split between the 29 Palms Marine Base and the Stephen Ames Foundation, which provides funding and support for junior golf programs in Canada and Trinidad & Tobago (Ames is a citizen of both nations). The main initiative of the foundation is the Stephen Ames Cup, an annual tournament between junior golf teams from Canada and Trinidad & Tobago.
On Friday and Saturday, the Callaway tent will offer free club fittings and swing analysis. The village will feature a kids area for face painting. Live music will follow the conclusion of Saturdays opening nine holes of LG SKINS GAME play.
Also in the Indian Wells Golf Resort village, families will have the opportunity to participate in a sweepstakes in the LG Electronics Product Gallery, where the title sponsor will be displaying a wide range of consumer electronics, home appliances and mobile phones. Prizes for the on-site sweepstakes include LG LCD computer monitors, portable GPS navigators and mobile phones with winners drawn on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as an LG 42-inch LCD HDTV grand prize in conjunction with the LG SKINS GAME final round Sunday.
LG Electronics also is providing an array of exciting prizes for LG SKINS GAME Pro-Am winners, including 32-inch LCD HDTVs for the first place fivesome, portable navigators for the second-place fivesome, and EnV by LG Mobile Phones for the third-place fivesome. Closest to the pin on the 14th hole will win LGs groundbreaking Super Blu dual-format high-definition disc player, while the longest drive from the 6th tee will win a 26-inch LCD HDTV. A hole-in-one on the Par 3 16 wins a 60-inch LG plasma HDTV.
Tickets for the 2007 LG SKINS GAME may be purchased at www.indianwells.com and at Indian Wells City Hall (44-950 Eldorado Drive) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and through the weekend. Individual day tickets are priced at $25 for Fridays LG SKINS PRO-AM; $45 for Saturdays first round and $35 for Sundays final nine holes. Indian Wells residents will receive a special rate and can purchase these tickets at City Hall. Parking and shuttle service to and from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden are free.
In its 25th year, the LG SKINS GAME has established itself as a Thanksgiving weekend staple for sports enthusiasts. ABC will televise the $1 million LG SKINS GAME, a joint venture of ESPN Regional Television, Inc. and IMG Media. Annually one of the highest rated golf telecasts, the LG SKINS GAME will be televised on Saturday from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30-3 p.m.
