British Open champion Padraig Harrington started the day in fourth place at 6 under.

But he had a bogey on the first hole, managed only a par on the reachable par-5 second hole, then put two balls in the water on the par-3 third on his way to a quadruple-bogey 7.

Harrington shot a 41 on the front nine to drop back to 1 under. It equaled the worst front nine score of the week, by Colin Montgomerie in the opening round.
