THE HIGH DESERT CLASSIC
The High Desert Classic Pro-Am golf tournament will be celebrating its 32nd consecutive year at Tierra Del Sol Golf Course; the H.D.C. has become the premier event for the high desert. This years list of golf professionals include Jimmy Powell a five time winner on the Champions Tour and also a past Vardon trophy winner on the PGA Tour, Paul Holtby winner of the Big Break three along with defending champion and current Canadian tour player Richard Gilkey. The field is full with great players featuring some Nationwide players, Canadian Tour players and probably the best player in the world over seventy in Jimmy Powell. “Jimmy shot 64 two years ago in the first round and had all these young guys scratching their heads”, said Local pro Bob Dacey this event gets better every year. The pros love coming up here and getting out of the rat race for a few days and they all love the course. The pro-am format is a three person scramble with the amateurs having the option to use the pros drive and the pros can putt for their team if need be. The teams are comprised of an A player, B player and C player while the pro plays his own ball for one of the largest purses in a Southern California pro-am event. Amateurs are still needed to fill out the field so if you would like to come out and play with some of the best professionals around, skill level is no problem C players are 15 handicaps and above.
