Phil, Tiger to tee off (but not in same match) in Ryder Cup

Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are both playing in the opening matches Friday in the Ryder Cup. Jim Furyk, who won the FedEx Cup, is not scheduled to play in the opening matches but could play in the afternoon. Here's how Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin's opening lineup looks.

Tim Hogarth of Northridge will play in the U.S. Mid-Amateur 36-hole final match play on Thursday. Hogarth faces two-time Mid-Am champ Nathan Smith.

Tim Hogarth of Northridge shot an even-par 144 to share medalist honors at the U.S.
Mid-Amateur Championship with defending champion Nathan Smith of Pittsburgh and Scott
Harvey of Greensboro, N.C.
Hogarth, 44, who won the 1996 U.S. Amateur Public Links, shot a 1-under 71 at
Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton, N.Y. Hogarth's round was the best among the
players who went out Sunday morning on a windswept course.
"I was co-medalist in 2007 at Bandon Dunes and it is always special,"
Hogarth said. "I honestly was looking to get into match play and give myself a
chance."
The match-play portion of the tournament begins today, with the 36-hole championship
scheduled for Thursday.
