Favorites continue to fall at Match Play Championship

MARANA, Ariz. _ A brief look at the second round of the Match Play Championship on Friday at the Ritz-Carlton Club at Dove Mountain:
Falling seeds: No. 8 Bubba Watson was the only seed from the top 10 remaining after two rounds. No. 1 Rory McIlroy, No. 2 Tiger Woods, No. 6 Adam Scott, No. 7 Lee Westwood, No. 9 Charl Schwartzel and No. 10
Jason Dufner dropped out in the first round, and No. 3 Luke Donald, No. 4 Louis Oosthuizen and No. 5 Justin Rose fell in the second.
Advancing: Ireland’s Shane Lowry followed his opening victory over Rory McIlroy with a 6-and-5 rout over Carl Pettersson to become the first No. 64 seed to advance to the third round in the history of the
15-year-old tournament.
Match of the day: Bubba Watson beat U.S. Ryder Cup teammate Jim Furyk in 22 holes. The Masters champion missed two straight putts from 5 feet that would have won the match before he finally put away Furyk
with a par on the fourth extra hole.
Shot of the day: Scott Piercy holed out with a 4-iron from 221 yards for eagle on the par-4 fifth hole in his victory over Luke Donald.

Forecast: Morning frost is expected over the weekend, with overnight lows around 33 on Saturday and 38 on Sunday. Saturday will be the best day of the tournament hit by snow Wednesday with mostly sunny
conditions and a high of 63. On Sunday, it is expected to be partly cloudy and breezy with a high of 59.
