Nine streets listed in repair poll in Reseda

According to the Reseda Neighborhood Council's Web site, the results are in for a street repair poll requested by L.A. Councilman Dennis Zine.

Streets on the list are:
19300-19700 blocks of Kittridge Street
6800-6900 blocks of Calvin Avenue
17700-18000 blocks of Valerio Street
17700 block of Stagg Street
18100-18400 blocks of Valerio Street
7200-7500 blocks of Newcastle Avenue
7400 block of Balcom Avenue
7600 block of Hesperia Avenue
7400-7500 blocks of Nestle Avenue

Street repair poll underway in Reseda

The Reseda Neighborhood Council has been asked by L.A. Councilman Dennis Zine to identify the worst streets in Reseda so pressure can be put on the city to get them repaired.

Almost 100 blocks have been identified as sorely needing repair. However, only 10 of those blocks have been identified by multiple people. Do your part and identify for streets that you think are the worst.

Reseda: "Welcome to Reseda" holiday decorations & banners

From November to January, 60 holiday trees purchased by the Reseda Neighborhood Council will be displayed in the downtown business district, along Reseda Boulevard, from Valerio and Hart streets and along Sherman Way, from Wilbur to Lindley avenues. In mid-January, the decorations will be replaced with 60 “Welcome to Reseda” banners, which were redesigned by the council.

Reseda: American Legion celebrated its 80th Birthday

On Oct. 21, the American Legion Post 308 celebrated its 80th Birthday with a dinner/dance in the late afternoon. The party was held at lodge, 7338 Canby Ave., Reseda. The party was to celebrate the formation of Post 308 on Oct. 15, 1927 by 14 local men, including Dr. W.K. Hendrick, who was the first post commander, and one woman. They were all WWI veterans. The current post commander is John Mika.

Reseda: Scouting for food drive, 'Good Turn for America'

From Nov. 3-10, the Cub and Boy Scouts in Reseda will have their annual food drive called “Good Turn for America,” where they walk around the community asking people to donate non-perishable food. On Nov. 10, Troop 148 plans to deliver the food collected to shelters and local pantries in the San Fernando Valley for Thanksgiving. To directly deliver food for the food drive, go to 7060 Amigo Ave. in Reseda, one block south of Sherman Way and two blocks west of Reseda Boulevard, or contact Scouting for Food Chairman Sami Dahdal at (818) 915-1411, who can arrange a pick-up.
