| | Comments (0) |

Avis Ridley-Thomas, director of the L.A. City Attorney's Dispute Resolution Program, recently sent letters to stakeholders in Sunland-Tujunga to ask who should attend meetings to resolve issues surrounding the controversial Home Depot project in the community.

The letter, which can be read through a link on the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council's Web site, states representation should come from the following groups:

Sunland-Tujunga Alliance-No Home Depot Campaign, Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council, Home Depot, small business owners, city of L.A., Sunlund-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce and any residents who have expressed support for Home Depot in the past.

No more than two people from each group should attend future sessions, at this time, the letter states.

Residents in the Sunland-Tujunga area can let their neighborhood council know what they're thinking through a survey that can be accessed on the council's Web site www.stnc.org.

Besides some basic demographic questions, the survey also asks how the council treated you if you attended or spoke at a meeting and how you found out about the meeting in the first place. You can also let the council know what issues concern you the most, including crime, delivery of city services and land-use issues.

If you'd like to get involved with the council as a member or a volunteer, there's a place to check for that, as well.

Completed surveys should be turned in to the council's office, located at 7747 Foothill Blvd., Room 101, Tujunga, by June 1.

Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council to discuss several area developments

| | Comments (0) |

The Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council will discuss area residential and business developments at its next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Gleason Middle School, 10965 Mt. Gleason Ave., Sunland.

On the agenda will be updates about the controversial Las Lomas residential development, the Verdugo HIlls Golf Course and Foothill/Commerce Town Center as well as a report about three "lock down" permits issued for the safety of a former local KMart store, which was purchased by Home Depot.

Because Home Depot's development of the site is in litigation, construction has halted. The permits were requested because parts of the structure are not secure from the elements.

Also the council is accepting candidate applications for its upcoming election. Filing deadline is 5 p.m. March 6.
