Four elected to Winnetka Neighborhood Council

In the recent Winnetka Neighborhood Council election, there were 11 declared candidates and one write-in candidate vying for four seats.

More than 160 stakeholders voted in the election, which was held at Canoga Park Bowl.

The four candidates receiving the most votes were Jozef T. Essavi with 93 votes, J.J. Popowich Jr. with 72 votes, MaryAnn Smiley with 63 votes and Erick Lace with 51 votes.

Winneta Neighborhood Council helps schools

The Winnetka Neighborhood Council is helping some local schools deal with a shortage of books. It recently allocated $2,200 to buy books at the following elementary schools: Fulbright, Limeric, Sunnybrae and Winnetka.

Also, the council a few months ago donated $2,500 to Sunnybrae Elementary to make improvements to its lunch area and student garden.
