More Manchester news

At the risk of turning this into the Monarchs blog, I thought people might be interested in the fact that Trevor Lewis has scored two goals in his three games (edit: actually, four games) with Manchester. Doesn't seem as though the jump to the AHL has bothered him much. On Tuesday, Barry Brust saved 29 of 30 shots to beat Portland. Speaking of not having problems adjusting to the AHL, Scott Parse has two goals and four assists in six games with Grand Rapids. Thanks to reader Joey for dropping me a note on this.

I agree, the guys down in Manchester are a big part of the Kings future, so I love hearing what's going on down there.

just a minor correction, when you said Trevor Lewis had two goals in his three games for the Monarchs, it was actually four. With the team's 6-4 win tonight it's now two goals and an assist in five games :)

I also love the Monarch news. I am glad to see Lewis doing so well. The fact he passed through a draft one year to becoming a #1 pick the next year always made me think he may have been a bust. Hopefully all works out for him.

Any news on Boyle... why isnt he in Manchester yet.

Piskula's teammate, Jeffrey Likens has three goals, two assists and is a plus seven in seven games. Solid depth at D.

The Monarchs are our future too, I like hearing about their playoff quest...gives us that much more to look forward to.

As I look at out defensive depth, I just glow even more about the addition of Jack Johnson.

Our defensive depth has been poor but with some good college signings in Harrold, Pisula and Likens, added to the good drafting of Ryan, Fast, Hearsley. We have a good young core. With Johnson coming in, we dont need any of these guys to overplay themselves and try and be a #1 guy. Now we only ned to worry about 2 or 3 of these defenseman turning into solid NHL D-man and not a #1 guy which these guys arnt.

If we could add Alzner to this mix we sill have a strong defenseive core for years to come.
